OCCU-PIE LA. Downtown Civic Center Courtyard. Fletcher Bowron Square. Los Angeles.Sunday Sept. 30, 2012. One Year Anniversary of Occupy L.A. From Occupy Wall Street to Occupy All Streets. PhotoJournal by Ginger Van Hook©2012

These photos document a fresh moment in the history of the Occupy LA movement which started last year. Here at the Civic Center in DownTown Los Angeles, you will find people gathering for important discussions relating to community activism, humanitarian assistance, medical care
 and issues involving women,

children, the educational system and the economic conditions surrounding Los Angeles and the nation.

Important issues were being addressed while a group of activist artists organized a festive holiday time to commemorate the anniversary of Occupy LA's one year commencement. They re-named the event OCCU-PIE LA and brought baked goods to give away for free...pies, cupcakes, cakes, veggies, and delicious desserts were handed to all to enjoy while discussions continued on the lawn and in the courtyard of Fletcher Bowron Square. Below is the information posted by the OCCU-PIES group Facebook invitation:

"Let's food bomb yummy occu-pies!! A DIT (do it TOGETHER) flash mob making mini pies for OLA's 1st birthday party. Come on down to Pershing Square, show up with little hand pies, and hand them out on a day with bands, panels, and a REALLY REALLY free market!! This weekend marks the first anniversary of the initial dreamers reclaiming the public commons and creating a space for communal expression within the area around City Hall now referred to as Solidarity Park. No better way to make new friends than giving em pie, yes? YES!! So if you wanted to go down to OLA in those initial beautiful first weeks (or during, or at the end) but never found a way...or felt too shy to talk to people... or or or.. here's your opportunity! Although we suspect this event''ll be more like a rolling sugar tsunami than a foodie flash flood (since half the people invited are artists, and the other half actiivists) that'll only add to the rad good time! PS: if you'd like to make 99% cookies or birthday cupcakes, we TOTALLY welcome diversity, ya'll :) "
